The Second Largest Ski Area in Europe… any guesses?
One of the largest ski areas in Europe, with 5 principle regions made up of 23 ski areas, approximately 278 modern ski lifts, 760km of pistes, over 700km of marked cross country Nordic skiing tracks and named after one of Europe's most famous composers... can you guess where it is yet?
Ski Amadé, Austria, is named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who was born in the city of Salzburg. The region stretches from the south-east of Salzburg to the upper Styrian Ennstal, including the impressive Steinernes Meer, Hochkönig, Dachstein and Tauernkamm mountain ranges.
The 5 regions making up Ski Amadé are: Salzburger Sportwelt, Dachstein Tauern, Gastein, High King Mountain Ski Area and Grossarl Valley.

An interesting fact that you may not know, but most of us will have seen parts of Ski Amadé without realising it. Scenes from the classic film The Sound of Music were filmed around the Salzburger Sportwelt! One scene in particular, where Julie Andrews is singing as she walks along a grassy verge was filmed near the resort of Alpendorf. Just to give you an idea of the calibre of scenery that will surround you during your stay.
