Never fear - they'll be mountain biking in Morzine this year

Despite the unforeseen closure of the Pléney lift, the Morzine-Avoiraz crew have pulled out all the stops to keep bikers on the mountain this year

The Pléney Gondola is closed for maintenance this summer, being improved and repaired for the winter season. Its good news for skiiers and boarders - the bigger and better lift will get more people to a wider range of pistes, complete with ground level entry for faster, easier access. The bad news is, without the Pléney Gondola, mountain biking in Morzine could be much harder work.

Fortunately, the Morzine-Avoriaz team are working hard to make sure that bikers don't have to. They will open two lifts early this season: the Super Morzine and the Zore will be working in a fortnight on the 15th June. By the 28th June, these lifts will open at 8.30am and the flow-rate will double to pick up the slack from the Pléney.

On top of this, a replacement bus service will be available, with ample room for mountain bikes, between Morzine and Les Gets. All you need for the service is a Portes du Soleil lift pass. The Crusaz and Mouilles chairlifts will also be operating, to get bikers to other parts of the Pléney.

Everyone in Morzine will be busy, keeping the tracks maintained with signposts and markings and, thanks to their efforts, mountain biking this summer in Morzine will be as good as any other year, even without the Pléney gondola.
