The rise of the eco-luxury chalet

Eco-tourism meets Luxury Ski Chalets

When considering the range of accommodation available when booking a holiday, a growing number of people are considering the benefits of spending their holiday in an eco-friendly environment.

Many eco-friendly chalets not only posses a wide range of benefits for the environment but are also finished to exceptionally high standards, due to the attention to detail taken in there construction. This makes these eco-friendly chalets a great option to consider when choosing where to stay. Many eco-friendly chalets retain the authentic nature of a traditional chalet while delivering fantastic service.

Eco-friendly chalets not only seek to retain heat through extensive insulation in order to reduce the amount of heat lost, many also focus on using recycled materials throughout their construction to reduce the impact of building on the local environment. Many chalets use locally sourced wood for their construction and use natural cork, hemp and lamb’s wool insulation in order to retain heat.

Although eco-friendly chalets are growing in popularity there are only a limited number available, however; it is possible to find a wide range of chalets available on the internet or an accommodation directory such as chalet finder, who have another eco chalet in Les Arcs called Chalet Sterwen.

Chalet Châtelet is an excellent example of an eco-friendly chalet looking over the picturesque Vallée de l'abondance, it has panoramic views of the French Alps, close to the tranquil village of Bonnevaux. This provides an ideal location to relax and unwind in the French Alps.

The large south and west facing windows allow optimised passive solar heating, combined with solar panels which are used to produce Chalet Châtelet’s electricity, hot water and underfloor heating. Special care has been taken to ensure minimal waste and energy usage throughout Chalet Châtelet, using only eco-friendly cleaning products, low energy light bulbs and by recycling, the chalet feels exceptionally eco-friendly.
