Ski Safari in the Dolomites

Ski across the spectacular mountain ranges of the Dolomites to a different secluded spot each night, where your rucksacks and a delicious meal will be waiting

If you love getting away to the mountains in winter, but fancy a change from the traditional skiing holiday, then a Ski Safari offers a great adventure and an extra special skiing experience for those who love to explore.

Collett’s Mountain Holidays now offer Ski Safaris in the Italian Dolomites, an area known for its outstanding beauty and breath-taking views. It’s an opportunity to enjoy a magical week skiing the entire Dolomite Superski network, going from hut to hut, valley to valley and spending each day in a different area of this vast and spectacular circuit, which includes the celebrated Sella Ronda. A week’s tour covers many miles and you’ll see every hidden corner of the region, from Arabba and the picturesque Val di Fiemme to the quiet, sublime slopes of Alleghe and the dramatically located ski area around Cortina and the Cinque Torri.

The closest airports are Venice, or Treviso, from where you are taken to your first stop Arabba, one of the highest resorts in the Dolomites.   Here, you will spend your first night in a local guest house, or hotel, after a sociable evening where you get to meet Mario, your experienced ski instructor for the week and other members of the group. The next morning, after a good breakfast and with rucksacks packed, your adventure begins for real; a journey through the mountains, with no return to Arabba until the end of the week!

Each night is spent somewhere different, either in one of the warm and welcoming mountain refuges, a special feature of the Dolomites, or occasionally in a mountain village hotel - and your bags will be transported for you during the day. What could be easier?  Everything’s perfectly worked out, so that when you arrive at your new destination each evening, you are free to enjoy a few pre-dinner drinks, perhaps whilst watching the sunset over the Dolomites, followed by traditional cuisine in the unique intimate and sociable atmosphere that prevails in these huts.

The following day it’s off on another adventure and you can pretty much rest assured of being the first ones on the crisp, freshly manicured pistes, setting off from a vantage point high in the mountains. What are you waiting for?
