Air and Style

High times in the Alps with Air and Style

Snowboarding and skiing competitions are, slowly but surely, migrating across the Atlantic. After Big Air in London this year, another big name in snowboarding is coming to Austria.

Air & Style 2013 will be held in Innsbruck, Austria from January 30th to February 3rd, a prime opportunity for European boarders to get some inspiration. Air & Style claims 6 stars, 20 years of experience and one of the liveliest crowds in the world.

The competition is split into two – Burn and Style and Air and Style, finesse and majesty. On Friday, Burn and Style gets competitors creative juices flowing as they aim for quality not quantity. This is not about churning out corks and rotations, it is about a run that looks like it feels good, old-school aesthetic appreciation. On Saturday is the namesake, Air and Style, twenty four riders, head-to-head, one BIG jump.

Pumped up from the adrenalin raising competitions, the party continues with Fantastischen Vier and Left Boy on the Friday night and Kraftklub and Mac Miller on the Saturday.

The winner of Air and Style gets 1 000 World Snowboard Tour points, a whopping €75,000 total sits in the prize purse and, of course, defending champion, Peetu Piiroinen, will be grafting to keep the coveted Air and Style ring – 925 sterling silver - on his finger.

Keep up with Air and Style and Piiroinen's luck against challengers such as Gigi Rüf, Nicolas Müller and Terje Haakonson.
